Night Time Photography

Each hour of the day carries a different kind of light. If there are clouds in the sky you will get a different picture than in a clear sky. Amongst photographers the night time is considered one of the most difficult time to capture a moment. Never the less it is highly needed to learn how to take a good picture in hard conditions.

amongst the difficulties are blurriness or lacking crucial details, Sometimes the picture doesn't come out at all, some times there is no focus. I will try to give you some pointers about overcoming such difficulties and producing some good results.

Dusk and Dawn

Amongst photographer the time before the sun sets or rises is the highly sought. There is a dramatic feeling that ca be achieved in a picture taken at a minimal light. The colors are strong and the contrast is high and even a beginner can produce a great photograph. To prepare for a shot at those times you must know exactly when the sun sets or rises. You have a short window to capture the moment, probably somewhere between 20 to 40 minutes. Check the weather before going out for a shot. it Would be a shame to wake up before dawn, step out to the cold and find that the sky is completely cloudy!

Good Camera
If you are looking to capture night photographs, you must realize that a good camera is needed. There are allot of difficulties going out on a night shoot and you must have an adequate camera to assist achieving your goal.
When the light is low the good cameras are distinguished from the not so good. The focus, the blur... With that said it is not a must to buy the most expensive camera in the store. Research, ask and determine what you want from your camera and how serious you'd like to go about it.

Think Night
Night time is different from the day time. There are certain enlivenment that we may feel more at home at than others.
Day time in the wilderness is allot more friendly than the night. You may not know what may creep up on you. Carry a flash light, a whistle or any other thing that is needed in the area you are heading out to. Don't hike alone if you can.Get advice from the locals regarding the dangers that are out there.

Think Ahead
Make a story board, design the shots in advance. You may get better results when having clear goals what it is that you want to achieve. Since it is harder to achieve a successful shot at night time more than the day time, one must prepare and be diligent. Get every edge that you can get. If shooting at dusk or dawn you must be prepared to think fast and focused.

Although extremely difficult, night photography can be highly rewarding. Archiving success in a higher level of difficulty is much more satisfying. The possibility of capturing beauty is greater at night time than the day. Practice makes the difference. So go out there and dazzle the world.
